Alabama's defense ruled again limiting the Lobos to just under 38 % shooting, 22 for 58. On the other side of the court, Charvez Davis showed that when he hits his shots, it is like the measles, it spreads to his teammates . Davis was 3 for 7 from the perimeter while the remaining Tide players combined, exactly matched that fine long-range shooting. Overall, the Tide's field goal percentage was 53 % on 26 for 49.
A memorable moment was when the TV cameras zoomed in on Grant giving instructions to Trevor Releford like a father, while cupping his hands around the back of his point guard's neck. You could tell there was a great deal of respect in both directions. ESPN broadcasters, Dan Dakich and John Saunders, both commented on Grant being such a terrific coach and person and how he was the type of guy you would want to coach your own son. The Knights with former Gator assistant (there is a lot of that going around in postseason tournaments) Donnie Jones taking his team to the Final Four of this tournament with a game at Creighton Wednesday night. What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time, the University of Northern Iowa was celebrating its upset victory over everyone's NCAA tourney favorite, Kansas, sending them to the Sweet Sixteen.
